In 2023, Taylor Renaud opened the first Chopped Leaf in Winnipeg, bringing the brand’s fresh, healthy offerings to Manitoba’s capital. Taylor’s innovative approach and commitment to excellence have quickly made his location a favorite in the community.

Taylor, a former Winnipeg Blue Bomber football player, has excelled by focusing on catering, exceptional customer service, and community engagement. He actively promotes catering by displaying menus prominently, connecting with local businesses and sports teams, and ensuring every order exceeds expectations, creating loyal repeat customers. Recently, he was asked to provide meals for the Nashville Predators hockey team after two of their away games in Winnipeg against the hometown Jets.

“Our entire team was so excited and knew we had to knock this one out the park. I worked closely with the hockey team’s dietitian to ensure we met all their needs. The players loved the food! The dietician passed my information along to the other 32 NHL teams in the league. This was a great reminder of the hidden opportunities that come with each delivery or customer experience we have.”

Inside the restaurant, Taylor has cultivated a team known for their welcoming smiles and meaningful conversations, a hallmark that customers rave about.

“At first my staff were a bit shy or unsure, but I gave them a positive nudge to always make customers feel welcome, give a warm hello, smile when they come in, have meaningful conversations. Now it’s automatic!”, he says proudly. “The first thing people say when they meet me is how great our staff is, smiling, and treating them with kindness.”

Beyond the walls of his restaurant, Taylor has taken Chopped Leaf into the community, showcasing wraps at local events like golf tournaments and building buzz through a vibrant and fun social media presence on Instagram (@winnipeg_choppedleaf).
