Holiday season indulgences drive us to make New Year’s Resolutions that will make us feel good. The key to success is setting realistic goals. Start with small changes in every day routines and keep it simple! Reflect upon all the demands of family and work that create hectic schedules that often lead to lack of sleep and poor eating habits. No wonder we feel tired! Kickstart this year feeling fresh and alert by trying a few simple things: Eat Breakfast - Start the day right with a wholesome breakfast. It will help you avoid searching for an energy boost with unhealthy high sugar snacks mid-morning that give you a quick fix but ultimately make you feel sluggish. Drink Water - Wake up and drink a cup of hot water and lemon. It is a refreshing start to the day that helps cleanse your palate and boost liver function. Try to reduce caffeinated and high sugar drink, increase water consumption and hydrate your body throughout the day. Get Moving - During a busy workday, remember to take your 5 minute breaks. Get up, move around and stretch out. Whenever possible, step outside into the sunlight for a few moments. Have Fun - Find time for yourself and have fun. Take advantage of winter weather, bundle up and go toboganning. Or turn up the music and dance around the kitchen. Let go of your stresses for a few minutes a day, it will rejuvenate you! |
